Did You Know?

Group piano lessons are increasingly becoming the method of choice for students who thrive in a social environment? Here are some reasons why:

 1. Physical Development

Children ages 7-12 are going through more changes neurologically than any other stage of development. Their brain size doesn’t change, but changes within the brain are significant, especially in the prefrontal cortex: the area of the brain that handles executive functions such as planning, reasoning, anticipating consequences and sustaining attention. As a result, children are experiencing increased body strength and heightened small and large muscle coordination. This is why the tween age group very much enjoys rough-and-tumble games with peers.

2. Children learn best through play

Researchers and educators across the world have found that play can help enrich learning and develop key skills such as inquiry, expression, experimentation, and teamwork. Learning through play increases speech and language skills, increases cognitive development, and encourages the building of relationships. Play also helps to nurture imagination and gives a child a sense of adventure. Albert Einstein famously said,”Play is the highest form of research,” and play is most easily established in a group setting with peers.

PRESTO gets it!

Presto was passionately created to give children, ages 7-12, an exceptional music education catered to their love to learn with their peers.

1. Robust Lessons

Because our lessons are taught in a group setting, teachers can justify the time it takes to learn, study and present lesson plans that utilizes an entire 60 minute lesson! Presto teachers will spend anywhere from 2-4 hours to prep for each individual lesson.

2. Proven Lesson Plans

Each lesson plan is researched, tried, piloted, and then pushed through final production. Each lesson plan aims to develop all areas of complete musicianship, producing confident students who progress with ease. The best part… Presto is incredibly “mindful about being playful” making learning piano so fun!

3. Accountability

Children thrive when learning in a group setting with their peers! The desire to impress peers is a powerful motivational tool Presto naturally provides with their group setting. Students want to perform well for their peers, so, naturally, students will practice hard and do the work it takes to develop a strong piano talent.

4. Fun!

There are so many fun learning activities that can be done in a group setting that transform piano lessons into a party. This party-like atmosphere makes coming to lessons a privilege. Also, in a group setting, students get to have an energetic and inspiring learning environment. A group setting also provides many learning techniques such as singing in rounds, subdividing beats, ensemble work, and more.

but that’s not all…

5. Practicing at home

Creating a healthy practice environment in a student’s home is the key to success. A supreme practicing environment is created when parents are educated and actively involved and when students have premium and attractive materials to learn from. Presto provides the highest quality learning materials found on the market today! Built into each weekly lesson plans is a BenchPal. The BenchPal is a practice plan dialogue that teaches parents how to create the positive and fun atmosphere necessary for optimal practice. The BenchPal is a parent/child bonding experience and will reinforce healthy practicing habits during the week.
